Reduce Cellulite Naturally With Essential Oils

Reduce Cellulite Naturally With Essential Oils

by Gal Bishop

There are several alternative therapies for reducing cellulite you can try from the comfort of your own home. Such methods are inexpensive but it has to be said, as yet, they do not offer a permanent solution to the cellulite problem.

One of the more popular home remedies used by women to treat cellulite is essential oils, and while this is not a cure on a permanent basis, the application of oils can give your skin a smoother look overall. In fact, you are likely to get great results if you use this method along with massage in the areas affected by cellulite.

Before you try any cellulite reducing method, it’s best to know a little about your condition. Cellulite happens when the connective tissue beneath the skin turns weak and allows bumpy fat pockets to push on the skin’s surface. A number of reasons can cause this to happen and often a change can be implemented to effectively remove existing cellulite.

Using Essential Oils to Lessen Cellulite

Essential oils can be used in two basic ways to reduce cellulite. As mentioned above, oils can be used as part of a massage routine or alternatively they can be added to your bathwater while taking a bath. Not only will essential oils improve your circulation, but they are also likely to prevent you from holding on to surplus fluids in your skin.

The range of essential oils varies from the citrus kinds such as orange, lemon and grapefruit, to other popular oils like sage, rosemary, lemon, lavender, juniper and cypress.

To make your cellulite reducing combination you first have to decide which oil you are going to use as the base of your mixture. Then select four of your favorite essential oils and add five drops of each into your base oil. When you step out of the shower apply the mixture to your body where cellulite is present.

Massage the oils firmly into the cellulite affected areas but as a safety measure take care to avoid areas of varicose veins. The whole purpose of using this particular method of reducing cellulite is to condition your skin at the same time as getting rid of any toxins.

If you decide on to make an essential oil bathing treatment, the alternatives are essentially the same. Simply try 3 drops each of your four preferred oils in your bath water. It’s also helpful to use a body brush prior to your bath or a loofah during the bath to get benefits similar to that of massage.

It is well worth giving essential oils a try to lessen cellulite. This practice can be carried out at home and it is easy and enjoyable to do. However, if you are pregnant or intending to be in the near future, cellulite removal of any description should not be undertaken without first seeking the advice of your physician.

Bear in mind, not every method of cellulite reduction works for everyone. It’s possible you may have to try a few different therapies, some at the same time as others, to reap the best results.

Creative Ways to Add Sensory Beauty To Your Home

Creative Ways to Add Sensory Beauty To Your Home

by Rachel Ray

Finding ways to scent a car, office, or home can be a powerfully relaxing way to bring sensory beauty to your environment. We’ll be exploring methods that can be done.

Carpet Freshener - This is fun and easy to make yourself. Take a pound of baking soda and put in a food processor. Add a few drops of essential oil or fragrance oil of your choosing and blend. Spread out on a shallow pan and allow to dry for several hours, stirring occasionally. Store in an airtight container when done.

You can then either sprinkle this freshener on your carpets directly, allow to sit a few minutes and then vacuum. The other way is to simply put some in your vacuum cleaner bag directly and it’ll add scent as your vacuum your carpets.

Try adding to a small saucepan at home some apple cider, cloves, cinnamon sticks and orange peel and simmer on low heat. This release a wonderful, homey scent often bringing memories of comfort and food. Add small amounts of water as the mixture runs low.

Scent a centerpiece with this unique idea. Bake a fresh bundt cake and take a small jar and fill it will fragrant flowers. Set this small jar in the center of the bundt cake. Try different scent combinations. One great one to try is a lemon bundt cake with honeysuckle flowers. The combinations are limitless tho.

Scent your pillows. You can either do a light misting of your favorite perfume (test for color fastness of your linens first), or get an already made linen spray to use. Another method is to insert a small amount of potpourri side a small sachet bag and either pin to the side of the pillow or insert into the pillow case.

Linen drawer or closet scenting. Tuck dried sprigs of lavender between the layers of towels and sheets, and tuck them near the sides of the linens. Lavender is not only soothing and calming, but also works as a moth and insect repellent as well.

Scented seashells for your bathroom. For small shells, soak the shells for a few minutes in olive oil and a few drops of essential oils. For larger shells, add a couple drops of essential oil right into the middle of the shells. Set these shells on a decorative tray or basket in your bathroom or bedside for both a pleasing scent and visual treat.

Scented powder puff. Invest in a luxurious powder puff and your favorite scented powder. Take a nice long bubble bath and after towel drying, treat yourself to your scented powder. It stays with you a long time and you’ll feel de-stressed and pampered.

Beautiful scents can be so calming in today’s rushed, stressed filled lives. Finding ways to incorporate different scents, textures, sights & sounds can truly help relax and remind us to slow down and to enjoy life. Sometimes these simple things help us to refocus and not stress so much about those things we cannot change.

How to Make Your Own Aromatherapy Body Lotion

by Rex Magnum

Commercially made aromatherapy body lotions are excellent, but they only use a small number of the many essential oils available. If you want to create a unique blend, try creating your own aromatherapy body lotion.

How to deal with Essential Oils?

If you know a lot about essential oils and have ideas about your favorites, creating a unique aromatherapy body lotion can be a wonderful way to get the benefits that you want without a long search.

The Smell That’s Right for You

When you are using essential oils, you need to check if they are pure or diluted. If pure, you can use much less. Also purchase some unscented lotion as a base for you to work from. Baby lotions often work very well.

Creating your lotion is easy. Simply mix a small amount of lotion with a few drops of pure essential oil. Make sure that no more than ten percent of your mixture is oil, as any more can be itchy.

Make Sure to Use a Test Patch

If you are using a certain essential oil for the first time, make sure to apply a small amount of your aromatherapy body lotion to a test patch. After 24 hours, if there is no reaction, you can apply your lotion.

Essential Oils - Cajeput - An Oil Held in High Regard in the East

Essential Oils - Cajeput - An Oil Held in High Regard in the East
By Linda Lee Smith

Cajeput (Melaleuca cajeputi) is in the myrtle family. The oil is one of the melaleuca trees that grow wild in Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Java, Australia and southeastern Asia. The oil today comes from Australia where steam distillation is used on the fresh leaves and twigs. This is a tall evergreen tree that grows up to 98 feet in height. It has thick pointed leaves and white flowers. It uniquely has a flexible trunk with whitish, spongy bark that flakes off easily. Traditionally cajeput in the East is was used for colds, headaches, throat infections, toothache, sore and aching muscles, fever, rheumatism and various skin disease. It was used in the herbal tradition to produce a sensation of warmth and quickening of the pulse. Native peoples used it for chronic laryngitis and bronchitis, cystitis, rheumatism and to expel roundworms.

How Can We Benefit from Cajeput Essential Oil Today?

Today we observe cajeput to have antibacterial, antiparasitic, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. It is used for throat, lung, and sinus infections, for urinary tract infections, coughs, and intestinal problems. Cajeput can be taken internally by diluting it 50-50 with a vegetable oil, it can be diluted 50-50 and applied on location, on the chakras/vita flex points, it can be directly inhaled, or diffused. Cajeput mixes well with wintergreen, eucalyptus radiata, juniper and peppermint. As for safety, cajeput is non-toxic, non-sensitizing but it may irritate the skin in high concentrations. Caution is advised to make sure you do not have synthetic cajeput since it may cause blistering and skin eruption.
