- Do you feel that your personal life is full of turmoil, how is your self esteem? Everyone has the ability to improve themselves; however, some of us need a little more help than others.
-
- We can all find ways to improve ourselves, just ask yourself the question “what do I need to do to improve.†Perhaps if you sat down and wrote a list of things which you do not like about yourself could help. Ensure that you prioritize your list putting the most important one’s to the top and the less important on the bottom. Everyday work on your list checking off each item as you feel it is getting better. Remember do not stop improving them just because you have placed a check mark beside it. It takes time to make changes and you can do it, remember that change does not happen overnight.
-
- What do you do with your day, are you working full time or part time, if you are not working, why not consider becoming a volunteer? Get busy and do not just lie around the house doing nothing. Keeping yourself busy and helping others is always beneficial. By helping others, you learn that someone else in the world has it much worse than you do. A job always helps especially if you are stressed out about paying a bill and there is no money to pay it. Every pound you make is one more pound than you had yesterday.
-
- Volunteer to work at your local library or charity shop a couple of hours a day or maybe just one day a week. Your local hospital is likely to be in need of a volunteer if nothing else than just to talk to people who are alone and have no one to visit them. Helping others always makes you feel better especially if you can see they enjoyed or benefited from it.
-
- Take a little time out of each day for yourself. You cannot be any good to other people if you do not take care of yourself. Prepare yourself a bath full of bubbles and relax, go for a walk alone or maybe go to the library and read, bring a book home to read and relax. A little something for yourself each day really helps to relax you and it can make you feel better.
-
- How about doing a little exercise; if you are not already doing it try it and see how it helps relieve stress. After a while, you’ll notice how you begin to look forward to exercising alone or with a friend. If you walk with a friend do not talk about your problems, keep the pace up and talk about the weather or maybe something you are planning to do tomorrow. Eventually you’ll notice how much better you feel getting out and taking care of yourself.
- Do you watch much television? Sometimes the news can make a person depressed but then again it can be educational and give you something to discuss with friends or family. Watch the weather and when you are walking talk about what is supposed to happen tomorrow; is it going to rain or snow. The news makes a good conversation when talking to other people.
-
- Get yourself out and visit someone once a week perhaps. Get out of the house and be with a friend or friends other than cleaning the house when you are at home. If you do not have many friends go and make some new ones. Meeting friends is something you can do when you are volunteering your time; when at the library talk to the librarian when you are checking out that book. New friends can be anywhere if you are willing to talk. Do not be afraid if you do not make a new one every time you talk to someone; just be yourself and someone will become the friend you need or want in your life.

- Remember life is short, if you need a little improvement here and there, that is fine. None of us are perfect and you can only change the quality of your life if you get out and make the effort.
