Your bras are valuable assets. Why? The answer is two fold. First, they are expensive. Second, finding a comfortable one takes a lot of time. Given these basic truths, you need to care for them in a way that will make them last.
First things first. You should never wear your bra two days in a row. Why? The elastic portion of any bra needs at least one day to rest. So, if you wear it often the elastic will eventually give out causing the bra to lose shape. Speaking of shape, have you ever had an underwire poke through the fabric?
If women have one common complaint regarding bras, it has to do with getting poked by underwire bras. If you are washing your bra in hot water, you are asking for it. Hot water shrinks the material around the underwire causing it to poke through.
Amazingly we tend to think that bras are invincible. We toss them aside, wear them out, and generally abuse them. However, learning how to care for your bras will actually result in longer wear. Did you know that putting your bras in the dry can cause the material to warp within a few weeks?
Though it might seem like a pain to hand wash and hang dry your bras, this is often the best course of action. If you put all of your bras into a pile at the end of the week, you can then do one big load of bra washing. Simply swirl them around in the tub with a bit of gentle soap, rinse, and then hang them to dry.
Is it really necessary to go through all of these steps? Well, if you cherish those colorful patterns; the way that the bra helps to fill out those tight shirts; and the support that they give you then, yes, it is necessary. Spending just a few moments every week to wash your bras is time well spent.
Life is busy and it can be easy to get lazy. If you find your attitude tilting towards this direction, just pull on an uncomfortable bra. You will soon be in the laundry room hand washing your comfortable bras!
